This looks really cool, but I can barely remember anything about One Piece. I barely knew half the characters in this trailer. After Crocodile, I have no clue what's going on.

Of the main characters: The guy with blue hair is Franky, he's a Cyborg who uses Cola as fuel. The skeleton with the afro is Brook, he's a swordsman that plays violin and has a cane sword. Luffy has his Gears 2/3, 2 he increases his blood flow making him faster. And 3 he inflates his bones making his body giant. Other than those characters being introduced, the game is pretty much a retelling of the stories, so if you play this, you should be able to get most of the story fairly well abridged.

all i know is that you got into it with some other nerd over the voices, which to be honest i don't care if they're in Japanese or English.

That actually sounds pretty cool, the retelling part. I'd like to get back into One Piece because I loved it a few years back, but I feel like it's too late to watch/read everything from the first chapter again.

But yeah, I'd suggest just trying this game, though it doesn't have two of the less important arcs in it. Skypiea, where they fight god. And Thriller Bark, where they meet Brook. But you can just look at a summary of those arcs online or something.
